About Us

Illini Awaaz is a vibrant force. It’s an engaging, spirited, and slightly daring one, from an ensemble that excels in blending tradition with innovation, deep cultural roots with contemporary style, and precise musical skill with inspired spontaneity. Our award-winning a cappella group masterfully integrates South Asian musical traditions, drawing from Indian classical ragas, contemporary filmy hits, pop anthems, and more. We are devoted to promoting South Asian culture both on and off campus through our art.

Every year, we travel around the nation to compete within the Association of South-Asian A Cappella (ASA) circuit, consisting of 67 teams, and compete with the best in the country. This year, we were fortunate enough to be awarded second place out of the top eight teams who qualified to compete at the All-American Awaaz National Championship.
